Over the next two meetings the Pack will work on their First Aider Badge. Through hands-on instruction, the Cubs will learn the basic skills and knowledge of simple first aid, including rescue breathing, burn treatment, and treatment for frostbite.
This is important knowledge to have when we go to Winter Camp.
Cubs and their parents are reminded to complete the Family Helper and Family Safety Badges. Any adult is able to 'sign off' on any Badge work that the Cub completes while being a Cub. Please just inform Akela at the next meeting to get the Badge.
**Warning: There will be a test to earn this badge.**
The Wolf Cub program is designed to interest children in grades 3 to 5. Cubbing allows children to work in small groups called sixes to complete projects. Individual achievement is recognized through simple awards called badges and stars. This program is designed to match the vivid imagination of the members. Cubs learn to "DO THEIR BEST" through encouragement and support to try new skills. Our Group meets every Wednesday from Sept to April at the Parkallen School starting at 6:30 PM.

Family Safety Badge - Feb 6
This week the Pack will be working on their Family Safety Badge.
This Badge will require some homework.
How can we make our homes safer and more accident-free?
Does that smoke alarm work? How do you lock the doors and windows?
Are the cleaning products stored properly?

Disability Awareness Badge
This week Cubs will be working on their Disability Awareness Badge.
Can you navigate around the gym without using your eyes?
How about play a game in a wheelchair?
Can you carry a conversation without opening your mouth?
Cubs are encouraged to learn how to Sign their name in American Sign Language (ASL). Here is a link an alphabet chart. In ASL you sign with your dominate hand, so Lefties with their left and Righties with their right - both are correct. If you have any question, feel free to contact Akela.
Cubs are also reminded to work on their Family Helper Badge, and tell Akela when they have completed it.

Cubs have homework, and the best kind.
As part of our focus on the Blue Star this year, the Cubs have been assigned homework.
Do you have a room that needs vacuuming, or some dirty clothes that need a wash? Call upon your Cub to be a Family Helper and they will get their Family Helper Badge.
Akela, and the Leadership Team, asks parents to put their Cub to work and mark in the Cub Book what was done. This Badge can be found on page 197 or at http://wiki.scouts.ca/en/Family_Helper_Badge
For all badge work, adults can sign off on any requirements that the Cub has completed while they were a Cub. At a meeting, the Cub can tell a leader they want to be tested for the badge to receive it.
